Jack Hene and Cassie Elliott are lovers on the run. Jewel thieves who live on the edge. Jack and Cassie race towards their hideout in the remote village of Abanville, a sleepy farming community where nothing ever happens, until now.

As the couple reach Abanville, little do they realise that the village has been targeted as part of a secret government test of a deadly new virus, which inadvertently transforms it's victims into homicidal, mindless killers with the most primitive and savage animalistic cravings.

As government agents pour the virus into Abanville's rivers they cannot predict that its effects will be so quick and catastrophic. As the infection spreads like wildfire, psychotic villagers run rampant across the landscape, and government assassins blockade the village. Jack, Cassie, Danzig, a travel writer vacationing in the area, and Kelly, a local farmer, are left with only one option, a last ditch night time escape attempt through the forest.

As the group fights on towards freedom, government forces are discovering, to their horror, that they have unleashed an epidemic they cannot control but must cover-up once and for all, including any witnesses to their crime. With time running out for the survivors, they must face a final devastating showdown with the true horrors of the place.
