That’s not a typo: we’ve received confirmation that Channel 4 International have successfully sold Asylum to YLE (that’s the equivalent of the BBC in Finland) and the film is going to air in their prime time drama slot. This sale is mostly thanks to the film’s airing at the 2006 Geneva Film Festival, where even the hard bitten, “seen it all before” panel of Judges left in tears (not to mention the effect on the audience!).

Unfortunately the film was pipped at the post for all the major awards, as there was not a category for “most moving film”. But with an audience’s reaction like the one reported at the festival, we have reason to hope word of mouth will spread and propel even more sales like this one.
