Lord
Richard Attenborough is surely a man who needs no introduction, but let's
give him one anyway: Academy Award winner, star of 72 movies, including
A Bridge Too Far and Jurassic Park, and Director of 11 films (including
the box-office smash Gandhi, which grossed over $52million) – the
sprightly 83 year-old has once again donned his director's gloves, and
we're very happy to announce that production is well underway on his twelfth,
and possibly his last movie, "Closing the Ring".
Great British Films has high hopes for this film, which we have helped
to develop, and we’ve got a share of the income and our name in
the credits to look forward to!
Starring Shirley MacLaine (Steel Magnolias, Terms of Endearment, Bewitched,
Dallas), and the young, beautiful and talented 20-yr old Mischa Barton
(The O.C.) this epic production follows the story of a wedding ring, owned
by a dying gunner of a crashed WW2 US Bomber plane, and recovered by a
local Irishman who attempts to track down both the girlfriend, and the
history of this ring. Co-producer Martin Katz describes the movie, set
in Belfast and North Carolina, as a multigenerational love story, in which
"geography, physical distance, race, religion and vanity" interact.
There are excited whispers in the halls of the production studios, as
confirmation comes in that brothers Jeff & Mychael Danna (Girl Interrupted;Capote)
have come on-board to write the films' musical score. Not excited? Then
bear in mind that between them the Danna’s have previously worked
with directors of high calibre such as Ang Lee, Terry Gilliam, and Denzel
Washington, and you realise the overall level of professionalism in this
movie will make it a must-see when it is released in 2007!
